Looking for just the right Christmas gift for your Republican uncle or your die-hard Democratic cousin?
The 2016 presidential candidates, racing to collect campaign cash, are hoping your holiday shopping will take you to their online stores this season. Taking a cue from the nation’s retailers, several of the contenders are offering “cyber Monday” deals.
Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, for instance, is trying to lure folks to her campaign site with a 5% “Cyber Monday credit” on the Hillary t-shirts, pet-collar charms, wine glasses and other swag her campaign is selling. Orders of $75 or more qualify for free shipping Monday.
Republican Marco Rubio is offering a one-day Cyber Monday “flash sale” of a $40 limited edition “Team Rubio” baseball shirt.
Fellow Republican Ted Cruz is offering 20% off goods, including a bright-red, $65 Cruz limited edition Christmas sweater. It features Cruz’s disembodied head, wearing a Santa cap, floating above the White House.
The campaign sales have been going on all weekend. Rand Paul, for instance, offered 20% off a Christmas mug during “Black Friday,” the traditional post-Thanksgiving shopping extravaganza.
